24 valve lift pump If you own a 24 valve, this could be the most important thing you read all day. You need to check your fuel pressure, this is very important for the life of your dodge cummins and should be done more often than you check the oil, water and transmission fluid. Even with a dead supply pump the VP44 injection pump on the 24 valve motor will pull enough fuel to run the truck properly. The problem is because of the increased restriction of not having postive pressure (no lift pump) your injection pump will begin to suck air in addition to fuel. This causes a lot more stress to be put on the internal diaphram of the pump, (seperates the high and low pressure side of the pump) which will cause your pump to fail. Check your fuel pressure often or even install a low pressure warning light or fuel pressure gauge.
